MAX BMW Helps Cambridge, MA Police Department Transition to BMW Motorcycles.

It was big news in Cambridge, MA on Monday, August 22, 2005 as four MAX BMW trucks dropped their gates and rolled 14 brand new R1100 RT-P Authority motorcycles onto the street in front of the Police Department.

In the largest single BMW Police Bike fleet sale on the East Coast, MAX BMW won a competitive bid to prepare and deliver 14 BMW Authority motorcycles to the City of Cambridge. Prior to delivery, each bike was prepped to the department's specs, including factory accessories and custom graphics.
Less than a week earlier, a handful of Cambridge Police Motor Officers rode their new mounts on the track at the New Hampshire International Speedway with MAX BMW. They were immediately impressed with the performance of the motorcycle and felt that the BMW boxer twin with a reinforced frame would provide an additional element of safety that their previous motorcycles could not offer.

"We are all praising the performance and handling of the new "motors" compared to the Harleys. The confidence I have now with just one day at the track was more beneficial than any training I have received in the last six years" said Anthony Cacciola, a Cambridge Police motor officer.

As TV news crews crowded around the officers and their new bikes and conducted interviews with officers and city officials, the old fleet of Harleys was quietly rolled into the MAX BMW trucks without comment. Mayor Sullivan proclaimed, "this is a proud day for for the City of Cambridge."
